1968, Ghent Illustrator and animator. Straight from the heart.
He studied film animation at the School of Arts in Ghent and then opted for the theatre world. In his seventeen years as a stage manager and technical director he hardly touched a pencil but did start drawing again in 1999. Now he’s working as a freelance illustrator for production and communication houses. He provided the illustrations for several books of jokes and various small jobs for a publisher before making his debut with Timeline (2015). He takes the reader/spectator on a breath-taking journey through world history from the Big Bang and dinosaurs to social media and Pharrell Williams’s song Happy. Timeline is an international success that appeared in Dutch, English and German at more or less the same time.

From the Big Bang to the present day, the illustrated scenes in Timeline, A Visual History of Our World tell the history of our planet in one continuous story. It’s a perfect introduction to history for young and old. This illustrated journey through our world’s culture and events travels from the Big Bang to the iPod and into the future.
This is a trip through time, past dinosaurs, Vikings, Aztecs and spaceships. It looks at wars and disasters; introduces artists, explorers and leaders; shows us living in castles, yurts and skyscrapers. And it does not neglect the imagination—here too are dragons, mythical figures and TV characters, alongside world-changing inventions borne from the imaginations of scientists and explorers. Each scene puts global events in perspective, in space and time.
